RTG System
RTGs are generally used with terminal tractors. The
quay crane place the container on a trailer, which
is towed by a terminal tractor to the RTG stacker
crane. Alternatively, the RTG loads export containers
onto a trailer, which is towed under the ship-to-shore
crane. This is the fastest and most economical way
of transporting long distances within the terminal.
Large
storage capacity
The RTG system allows higher and wider stacks
than other systems. No separate interchange area is
required.
Availability and reliability
Modern RTGs offer good availability thanks
to the minimum need of maintenance. High classification
of structures and mechanisms ensure reliable operation.
Speed
The terminal tractor is a fast and economical
way of transporting containers within the terminal.
Automation options
Linear movements (hoisting/lowering, trolley
and gantry steering) are easy to automate. Unobstructed
visibility to the sky allows satellite navigation.
